You Cannot Serve Two Masters
Reading: Matthew 6:24 and 1 Timothy 6:6-10

Devotional: Jesus makes a statement that is simple to understand and difficult to live: no one can serve two masters. In 1 Timothy 6, Paul echoes this truth, reminding Timothy that the love of money is a root from which many forms of evil grow. Notice that Paul does not say money itself is evil, but the love of it is dangerous. Divided loyalty is not loyalty at all. When money becomes a master, it demands your time, your worry, your dreams, and your decisions. God calls His people to a singular devotion. You must choose who sits on the throne of your life.

Reflection Question: In what areas of your life do you notice tension between following God's direction and protecting your financial comfort?

Practical Application: Identify one financial decision you are currently facing and deliberately bring it before God in prayer before making any move, asking what faithfulness looks like in that moment.
