The Ministry of Forgiveness
Matthew 18:21-35; Colossians 3:12-14
"Brother Saul"—these words must have stunned the newly converted persecutor. Ananias didn't say "Enemy Saul" or "Dangerous Saul." He called him brother. This terrorist who had dragged Christians to prison was immediately embraced as family. Ananias extended the same forgiveness God had given. How often do we withhold forgiveness from those God has already forgiven? Do we keep bringing up past sins, maintaining emotional distance from those who have hurt us? True forgiveness mirrors God's forgiveness—complete, immediate, and restorative. Is there someone in your life whom God has forgiven but you haven't? Perhaps a fellow believer whose past continues to color your present perception of them? Today, ask God to help you see others as He sees them—not through the lens of their past, but through the grace of the gospel.
