Understanding the Curse
Genesis 3:14-19; Genesis 4:4-8
The curse in Genesis 3:16 reveals the root problem in every marriage struggle: the battle for control. The wife's "desire" isn't romantic longing but the sinful urge to control and manage her husband. The husband's "rule" often becomes domination, harshness, or passive withdrawal. This is why marriages are hard—we've inherited a sin nature that drives us to fight for our own way rather than serve sacrificially. Every argument over finances, parenting, or daily decisions can become a power struggle. The "me first" mentality replaces selfless love. Today, honestly assess your marriage. Do you try to manipulate or control? Do you dominate or withdraw? Recognizing these sinful patterns is crucial. You cannot treat symptoms without diagnosing the disease. Ask God to reveal where this curse manifests in your relationship.
