Honor That Transcends Time
Exodus 20:12; Proverbs 23:22-25

Honor differs from obedience in a crucial way: it never expires. While children eventually grow beyond the season of parental authority, the call to honor remains throughout life. Honor means respecting the God-given position your parents hold, regardless of their imperfections or your age. This commandment comes with a promise—long life and blessing—revealing God's heart for family relationships that endure. Today, consider how you show honor. Do you speak respectfully about your parents? Do you care for their needs as they age? Honor isn't earned by perfect parenting; it's given because God placed these specific people in your life. As you mature in faith, let honor mature from obligation into genuine respect and gratitude for those who gave you life.
