Obedience Despite Fear
Joshua 1:1-9
"So Ananias departed"—three simple words that represent profound courage. Despite his fear, despite knowing Saul's reputation, Ananias obeyed. The Lord told Joshua "be strong and courageous" three times because obedience often requires us to act when we're still afraid. Courage isn't the absence of fear; it's obedience in the presence of fear. God had commanded Ananias, and that command was enough. What has God been asking you to do that fear has prevented? Perhaps it's sharing your faith with a coworker, having a difficult conversation, standing up for biblical truth, or serving in a new capacity. Fear whispers that you're inadequate, but God's command carries His enabling power. Like Ananias, you don't need to feel ready—you just need to depart in obedience, trusting God will be with you.
