The Gift Cannot Be Bought
Acts 8:18-24; Ephesians 2:8-9

Simon's attempt to purchase spiritual power reveals a dangerous misconception plaguing Christianity today—that God's gifts can be earned or bought. We may not literally offer money like Simon, but we subtly believe increased giving, service, or religious activity purchases God's favor. The prosperity gospel whispers this lie: sow more, receive more. But grace, by definition, cannot be purchased—it's freely given to the undeserving. The Holy Spirit isn't a commodity; He's God's generous gift to believers. Our works don't earn salvation or spiritual blessings; they flow from grateful, transformed hearts. Salvation isn't transactional—it's relational. Stop trying to earn what Christ freely offers. Repent of performance-based faith and rest in His unmerited grace. What are you trying to buy that God wants to freely give?
