What Rules Your Heart
Reading: Matthew 6:19-24 | Luke 12:15-21

Devotional: Jesus told the rich young ruler that the barrier keeping him from eternal life was not a lack of moral effort but a misplaced allegiance. His wealth ruled his heart. The man walked away sorrowful because what Christ asked of him seemed too costly. But consider what he walked away from. He walked away from the very source of eternal life to protect a temporary accumulation of earthly goods. Our knees are always bowing to something. The question is never whether we will serve a master, but which master we will serve. Wealth is not evil, but when it competes with our loyalty to God, it becomes a spiritual danger.

Reflection Questions:
What drives the majority of your daily decisions: what glorifies God or what advances you financially and socially?
Where does your time, money, and energy consistently go? What does that reveal about what your heart truly treasures?
Practical Application: Review your spending and calendar from the past month. Look at where your resources have gone and ask God honestly whether those patterns reflect a heart that treasures Him above all else. Make one concrete adjustment this week that reflects a reordering of your priorities toward His kingdom.
