The Discipline of Contentment
Reading: Philippians 4:11-13 and Hebrews 13:5

Devotional: Contentment is not a personality trait; it is a learned discipline. Paul writes that he discovered contentment in every circumstance, not that he was born with it. Our culture is engineered to manufacture discontentment, convincing us that what we have is never quite enough. A newer home, a better car, a different body -- the appetite of discontentment is never satisfied. Scripture calls us to a different posture: one of settled trust that God's provision is sufficient. Contentment does not forbid ambition or improvement, but it refuses to let unmet desires rob us of present gratitude. Practice naming your blessings today.
