God's Sovereignty Over Our Expectations
Reading: Romans 11:33-36; Jonah 4:9-11

Devotional: Jonah grieved deeply over a plant but struggled to grieve over thousands of people. God used that contrast to expose a fundamental problem: Jonah had decided how God should act, and when God acted differently, Jonah was offended. Romans 11 reminds us that God's ways and thoughts are beyond our ability to fully trace or understand. His judgments are unsearchable. When life does not match our expectations, it is often because we have confused our preferences with God's purposes. His sovereignty is not a wall that blocks our prayers. It is the foundation that holds everything together, even when we cannot see the full picture.

Practical Application: Write down one situation where you have told God, whether consciously or not, how you expected Him to act. Surrender that expectation in prayer today, asking God to replace your plan with trust in His.
