Signs Already Given
Reading: Matthew 12:38-40

Devotional: The Pharisees demanded a sign from Jesus even after witnessing miracle after miracle. It is easy to read that and shake your head in disbelief -- until you recognize the same tendency in yourself. God has answered prayers, provided in impossible situations, and demonstrated His faithfulness again and again, and yet in the next trial, the heart still reaches for proof. Jesus does not scold the desire for assurance, but He does redirect it. The greatest sign ever given is the resurrection. It is not a sign you must wait for. It has already happened. The evidence of God's faithfulness is already before you. Return to it.

Reflection: In what area of your life are you asking God for a sign when He has already provided evidence of His faithfulness?

Practical Application: Make a written list of at least five specific ways God has proven His faithfulness in your life. Return to that list the next time doubt rises.
