Self-Control and the Lordship of Christ
Galatians 5:16-24

Paul spoke to Felix and Drusilla about self-control, a word that addressed their patterns of lust, unchecked appetite, and moral compromise. Galatians 5 describes self-control as a fruit of the Spirit, meaning it is not produced by sheer human willpower but by surrendering to the life of the Spirit within the believer. Felix and Drusilla lived entirely for personal pleasure. Their lives were defined by appetite without restraint. The Christian life calls us to something radically different, not joyless restriction, but freedom from the tyranny of our own desires. True freedom is not doing whatever you want. It is wanting what is truly good.
