The Permanent Presence
John 14:15-21

Jesus knew His disciples would face His physical departure with anxiety, so He promised something better: the Holy Spirit who would be with them forever. This wasn't a temporary comfort or occasional visit—this was permanent indwelling. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead would take up residence in every believer. This means that God's presence isn't dependent on our circumstances, feelings, or even our faithfulness. He doesn't come and go based on our performance. Today, you may not feel God's presence, but feelings aren't the foundation of faith. The Spirit is with you, whether you sense it or not. Ask God to make you more aware of His constant companionship.

Christmas can be a time of grief due to the loss of those we have loved. Remember, as we celebrate Christmas, remember that the baby in the manger grew to be the risen Savior who promises never to leave us. He is Immanuel!
