Living with Holy Fear
Acts 5:7-11; Proverbs 9:10; Psalm 111:10
"Great fear came upon the whole church." This fear wasn't terror but holy awe and reverence for God's presence and authority. Modern Christianity has largely lost this fear of the Lord, treating God as our buddy rather than our Holy King. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom—it recognizes God's absolute holiness, justice, and right to judge. While God is gracious and patient, He will bring judgment on sin. This should sober us, not paralyze us. When we truly fear God, we take sin seriously, worship becomes weighty, and obedience flows from respect rather than obligation. Does your life reflect an awareness of God's holiness? Do you approach Him with reverence? Cultivate holy fear by meditating on God's attributes and your accountability before Him.
