Repentance: The Heart of True Faith
Acts 8:22-24; 2 Corinthians 7:9-11
Peter's rebuke offered Simon an opportunity: "Repent of this wickedness." Yet Simon's response revealed his true condition—he feared consequences, not his sinful heart. This distinguishes worldly grief from godly grief. Worldly sorrow wants to escape hell without heart transformation. Godly sorrow produces genuine repentance leading to salvation and life change. Many in churches today mirror Simon—associated with believers, participating in activities, yet hearts remain unchanged. They want salvation's benefits without surrender's cost. True repentance isn't just feeling bad about sin; it's turning from self-centered living to Christ-centered devotion. God graciously extends this invitation today: Will you merely seek escape from judgment, or will you allow Him to transform your heart completely? Genuine faith begins with honest repentance.
