The Peril of Falling Away
Hebrews 6:4-8
Devotional:
Today's passage contains a stark warning about the dangers of falling away from faith. The core message is clear: our response to God's grace matters. Those who have experienced God's goodness yet turn away face serious consequences. This isn't meant to instill fear, but to emphasize the preciousness of our salvation and the importance of perseverance. This passage is meant to encourage us to examine our hearts. In examining our hearts, we look to see if we have a false assurance of salvation that is works based, or an assurance that is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ that can never be taken away.
Examine your heart today. Are you nurturing your faith, or neglecting it? Remember, true faith produces fruit. Ask God to help you remain steadfast, to continually cultivate your relationship with Him, and to bear fruit that reflects His work in your life.
